How to pick your first class
Let’s Find Your Starting Point
Not sure where to begin? Think about your experience, what you enjoy, and how much guidance helps you feel comfortable.
Are you new to exercise or returning after a break?
Look for classes where the trainer leads you through each exercise and explains what to do next.
Our beginner private small groups are another option for learning form, getting comfortable with weights, and building confidence.
Do you want to build strength?
Choose a strength-focused class to work on the muscles you use in everyday life. You choose weights that suit your ability, and your trainer can offer variations and options as you progress.
Here are some great options:
SIMPLY STRONGER
ARMS AND ABS
BUTT AND GUTT
UPPERBODY BLAST
Do you enjoy music and moving to the beat?
A cardio class may be a great fit. Enjoy the music, move at your own pace, and choose higher- or lower-impact options that work for you. You don’t have to get every step right to enjoy yourself.
Here are some great options:
BEATBLAST
RETRO BURN
RETRO STEP AND BURN
KICKIN' BURN
ZUMBA
HIT AND BURN (if you would love a bag hitting boxing class, no experience necessary)
Would you like both strength and cardio?
Look for a strength and conditioning class that combines resistance exercises with movement to build stamina.
New to Exercise? These classes are beginner-friendly, with variations and options for different fitness levels. However, we don't recommend them as your very first class, as the cardio component can make them more challenging. We suggest starting with a strength-focused class to build confidence and become comfortable with basic movements before adding cardio.
Here are some great options:
LIFT AND BURN
BodyBLAST
SIT AND STRENGTH
TOTAL BODY TABATA
METABOLIC STRONG
Are you interested in balance, mobility, and controlled movement?
Explore Pilates, barre-inspired classes, Tai Chi, or stretching. Check each class description for its pace and whether it includes floor exercises.
Here are some great options:
STRENGTH, STABILITY AND STRETCH
PILATES STRENGTH
PILATES SCULPT
MAT PILATES
LIGHT AND LOW SCULPT
TAI CHI
Do you feel comfortable working independently?
Circuit classes like Total Body Circuits may suit you if you’re familiar with common exercises and comfortable moving between stations after an explanation. Your trainer circulates to help with form and questions while everyone works on different exercises.
If you’re brand new to exercise or Body Blast, or prefer continuous direction, we recommend choosing another class for your first visit. Arrive early for circuits so you have time to understand the stations and ask questions.
Do you need exercise variations or options?
Speak with your trainer before class begins about movements that don’t work for you or any limitations she should know about. If something feels uncomfortable or unclear during class, pause and ask for help.
Your Starting Point Is Personal
Body Blast is a women-only functional fitness studio. We train for everyday life, not bodybuilding competitions. There is no competition and no pressure to keep up with anyone else.
Choose movement you enjoy, the guidance you need, and a pace that works for your body.
